When you complete the curriculum finder:

• Your responses and personalized recommendations are saved at a unique URL (e.g., homeschooltools.net/advice/abc123)
• Anyone with this URL can view your results
• You can share this URL with family, friends, or your homeschool community
• You can delete your results at any time using the "Delete these results" link at the bottom of the page
• Deleted results cannot be viewed by anyone, but the data remains in our system for statistical purposes

When you provide your email address:

• I'll send you the curriculum recommendations you requested
• I may occasionally send you updates about new curricula, features, or homeschool resources
• I will never share your email with third parties
• You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email

If you sign up for the weekly roundup:

• You'll get a confirmation email first, and nothing else is sent unless you click the link in it
• I record the date and the IP address the signup came from, as proof of consent
• The list is managed through Resend, which handles delivery and unsubscribes on my behalf
• Every issue has an unsubscribe link, and opting out takes effect immediately

I use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that:

• Does NOT use cookies
• Does NOT track you across websites
• Does NOT collect any personal information
• Does NOT sell your data
• Shows me only aggregate statistics like:
  • Which pages are visited
  • Which buttons are clicked
  • Where visitors come from (e.g., Facebook, Google)
  • General location (country/region only)

This helps me understand what's working and improve the tool for everyone.

Homeschool Tools offers a public Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that AI assistants (such as Claude or ChatGPT) can use to search our curriculum database. When an assistant queries it on your behalf:

• Search parameters received: The server receives the search criteria the assistant sends — grade level, subjects, worldview, budget, learning style and special needs, each chosen from a fixed list of allowed values — and, for a lookup, the name of a curriculum. No conversation history or chat logs are sent to or stored by Homeschool Tools.
• Stateless processing: Each request is processed independently. There are no user accounts and no sessions.
• What we keep, in full: for each request we store which protocol method was called, which tool was used, how long the request took, whether it failed, which kind of assistant made the request (for example "claude-code"), and the search criteria — but only values drawn from our own fixed lists. A search criterion that is not one of our allowed values is stored as "[invalid]", never as sent. A curriculum lookup is stored only when the text matches a curriculum in our catalogue, and then only as our own name for it; anything else is stored as "[unresolved]". Every value we keep is one we defined — a value from our own lists, a number, or a curriculum's name as it appears in our own catalogue. Text an assistant sends is never kept as free text. We keep this to answer one question, whether anyone is using the server, because our request logs are discarded after about a week. We do not store IP addresses, your identity, conversation content, or free text of any kind — and the search criteria an assistant sends, including any curriculum name, are filtered out of our request logs as well, so they are not kept there either. These records are deleted after 12 months.
• Rate limiting: To prevent abuse, we track IP addresses in memory for rate limiting purposes. This data is not persisted to disk or any database and is cleared when the server restarts.
• Referral tracking: Links from AI assistants to HomeschoolTools.net include a ?ref= parameter identifying the assistant type (for example, ?ref=claude-code), never an individual. This is tracked by Plausible Analytics (our cookie-free, privacy-friendly analytics service described above) and is not tied to any individual user.
• No personal data collected: The MCP endpoint does not require authentication, does not set cookies, and does not collect or store any personally identifiable information.
