Email Communications
When you provide your email address:
- I'll send you the curriculum recommendations you requested
- I may occasionally send you updates about new curricula, features, or homeschool resources
- I will never share your email with third parties
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email
Data Storage
- Your form responses and recommendations are stored indefinitely unless you delete them but are encrypted and secure
- I only use them to improve how the site offers recommendations
- None of the data is used for AI training either by me or third parties
- I don't share individual survey data with third parties
- I may publish aggregate, anonymized statistics (e.g., "60% of parents prioritize math curriculum") to help the homeschool community understand trends
Analytics & Privacy
I use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that:
- Does NOT use cookies
- Does NOT track you across websites
- Does NOT collect any personal information
- Does NOT sell your data
- Shows me only aggregate statistics like:
- Which pages are visited
- Which buttons are clicked
- Where visitors come from (e.g., Facebook, Google)
- General location (country/region only)
This helps me understand what's working and improve the tool for everyone.
You can learn more about Plausible's privacy practices at plausible.io/privacy.
Affiliate Links and Commission Tracking
Homeschool Tools participates in affiliate programs with curriculum providers. When you click an affiliate link, we may:
- Log the click for analytics purposes (curriculum name, timestamp, referring page)
- Use cookies set by third-party affiliate networks (duration varies by network)
We do NOT collect personally identifiable information through affiliate clicks.
This data helps us understand which recommendations are helpful and improve our service. You can opt out of third-party cookies through your browser settings.
For more information about how we use affiliate links, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
AI Assistant Integration (MCP)
Homeschool Tools offers a public Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that AI assistants (such as Claude or ChatGPT) can use to search our curriculum database. When an assistant queries it on your behalf:
- Search parameters received: The server receives only the search criteria the assistant sends (grade level, subjects, worldview, budget, learning style, special needs, and additional context). No conversation history or chat logs are sent to or stored by Homeschool Tools.
- Stateless processing: Each request is processed independently and not stored. There are no user accounts, sessions, or query logs on our end.
- Rate limiting: To prevent abuse, we track IP addresses in memory for rate limiting purposes. This data is not persisted to disk or any database and is cleared when the server restarts.
- Referral tracking: Links from AI assistants to HomeschoolTools.net include a
?ref=parameter identifying the assistant type (for example,?ref=claude-code), never an individual. This is tracked by Plausible Analytics (our cookie-free, privacy-friendly analytics service described above) and is not tied to any individual user. - No personal data collected: The MCP endpoint does not require authentication, does not set cookies, and does not collect or store any personally identifiable information.
Data Security
- I use industry-standard security practices to protect your information
- Your data is stored on secure servers (Railway)
- I don't store payment information (the service is free)
Children's Privacy
This service is designed for parents and educators, not children. I don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact me and I'll delete it immediately.
