How We Rate
What "Highly Rated" means
Every offering on this site gets a quality assessment. The Highly Rated badge marks offerings at the top of that assessment: reviewers praise them consistently and report few trade-offs.
95 offerings currently have the Highly Rated badge.
Where the assessment comes from
Offering pages are built from published reviews: review sites, homeschool blogs, and parent forums. Most pages list these sources under "Reviews We Consulted." Information about price, format and grade levels comes from the publisher.
An AI model reads those reviews, summarizes them, and drafts a quality assessment. A separate pass checks that assessment against a written rubric and against similar offerings, so the same standard applies across the site.
I review pages before they are published, and correct them when errors are reported.
What it is not
- It is not paid placement. No publisher pays to be listed or to get the badge.
- Affiliate relationships do not affect it. The AI model that drafts and checks the assessment is not told which offerings have affiliate links. See the affiliate disclosure.
- It is not a popularity count. It does not count sales, clicks or site traffic.
- It is not a promise that a program fits every child. A Highly Rated program can still be wrong for your family. Each page says who it suits and who it does not.
Offerings without the badge
The badge marks the top tier. Other offerings are not labeled.
Limits
- Some offerings have only a few published reviews, so their assessment rests on less evidence.
- Prices and program details change. Check with the publisher before you buy.
- Pages that list their sources show the month those sources were last gathered.
